Extra Credit
You have to opportunity to watch a couple of films for extra credit in this unit.
The first film is Amistad. It is available on Netflix. I would like you to watch the film and then reflect on the following questions: What was the ultimate question that needed to be answered in this case? Why was this so important to the outcome? How does this event fit into the Antebellum Period and the impending Civil War? In general what did you think of the film and the story?
The second film is 12 Years A Slave. You can find this film at the public library or rent it online. Write a reflection about the conditions of slaves and free blacks in the US during the Antebellum Period. What did the film show you and how did it make you feel?
