Unit #6 Targets
1. You will know the vocabulary associated with this unit and apply the meanings to better understand the main ideas.
2. You will have an overall understanding of what the Renaissance was and its importance as a time period.
3. You will understand the characteristics of the Renaissance and analyze how they made this time period different from the previous periods.
4. You will understand where the Renaissance began and look at the political, social, intellectual, and economic situation at the start.
5. You will understand the characteristics of Italian Humanism and its importance to the Renaissance including those opposed to the movement and why.
6. You will understand the characteristics of Italian Renaissance art including the famous artists of the period, architecture, and writing.
7. You will understand when and where the Northern Renaissance began and why it is considered different than the Italian Renaissance in many ways.
8. You will understand the characteristics of Northern Humanism and its importance to the Northern Renaissance.
9. You will understand the characteristics of the Northern Renaissance including the famous artists of the period, architecture, and writing.
10. You will analyze the impact made by the invention of the printing press on Europe and the world.
11. You will compare and contrast the Italian and Northern Renaissance by creating a Venn diagram.
12. You will understand the circumstances that led to the Protestant Reformation and what it meant to teh Christian Church.
13. You will know who Martin Luther was, what he believed, and what impact he had on the Christian Church.
14. You will understand the spread of Protestant ideas including the ideas of John Calvin, Radical Reformers, and the English Reformation.
15. You will understand the Catholic response to the spread of Protestant ideas in the form of the Catholic Reformation or Counter Reformation and you will analyze the positive and negative changes that take place.
16. You will understand the circumstances surrounding the Scientific Revolution and analyze some of the major ideas and leaders of this movement including its impact on the future.
17. You will create a virtual museum about several aspects of the Renaissance, Reformation, or the Scientific Revolution for the class to learn from.
